Poison Center Funding Cuts

Dear Georgia Residents,

We thank you for taking the time to express your concerns regarding the longer wait times you are experiencing before reaching a Poison Specialist and your disappointment with the discontinuation of our treatment advice service for pets.

For the past 35 years, the Georgia Poison Center has been privileged to provide services to you reducing the incidence and impact of poisoning (in both humans and animals), saving lives, and reducing health care costs. However, due to the recent State and Federal budget cuts, our staff was significantly reduced and we had to restructure our services to make accommodations. Unfortunately, we do not expect this problem to get any better, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
