A poison is anything that can make you sick or kill you if you eat it, breathe it, or get it in your eyes or on your skin. Poisoning continues to be one of the leading caused of injury and death in the United States. Although the number of reported poisoning related deaths in the U.S. has dramatically decreased from several hundred per year to less than 50 per year, non-fatal poisonings are still a significant problem. It is estimated that more than 150,000 men, women and children are poisoned each year in Georgia.
